Ecotec Engines
Discussion
Does anyone own a modern Opel GT? One of my cars is a Pontiac GXP coupe (a version not available in the Opel range). I wondered if there was much of a following over there for these cars? The Ecotec LNF engines make them an attractive combination - good fuel mileage when touring but the capability of putting out excellent performance from the turbo engines.
Sadly the Opel GT was never made in right hand drive, and thus never sold officially in the UK, so I suspect few owners are on here.

I'm not sure if we're losing this in translation as it were but is the 'modern Opel GT' the sort of enlarged VX220 style thing that was launched in Europe in sort of 2007 era? Not sure if it was available in the USA but the EcoTec LMF engine seems to be USA market only? We had a 2.0 turbo here but is was the LEH found in various states of tune in MK4 / Mk5 / Mk6 Astras and the like...
This Opel GT I think https://www.topgear.com/car-reviews/opel/first-dri...
I assume you are referring to the Pontiac solstice that shared a lot with the Saturn sky and Opel GT?
If so, it will have the all aluminum L850 engine. This is a well regarded engine in the US even with its relative small displacement. But over here we only had it in 2.2 NA configuration with the Astra G. Vectra B / C and VX220. The turbo versions were only available in Saab 93. And a few Cadillac BLS.
Lots of variations and tuning options in the US. But over here more limited a mostly just a few supercharged conversions for the VX220.
Over here we were more focused on the family II ecotec engine with the iron block as mentioned above.
Cheers
