Ebay question regarding postage labels
Discussion
I have sold an item on ebay - quite expensive about £1k.
When I set the auction up I set that I would pay postage as I knew it would be high value so wanted to make sure it was sent using Special Delivery.
Now the auction has finished the postage service offered is just tracked 24. Is this right? Is it protected upto the full value?
If no can I buy extra protection at the post office?
The issue is if I don't use ebay postage then it takes a lot longer to get paid out.
I have not sold much recently and always used "buyer pays" for postage so never crossed my mind re the value.

Even though you selected buyer pays presume you are locked into their simple delivery?
You could ignore this, just write off the cost. (Download the label first to get the address) and use any service you require.
The downside to this is eBay will never know it's "delivered" or update that status. I wouldn't do that myself.
Sounds like it's a call to eBay customer services to ask the question.

I’m sure eBay simple delivery covers the total value of the item you are sending in terms of insurance; it’s eBay that cover it, not the postal service in the event of a claim/loss. The last thing I would be doing is purchasing separate postage outside of eBay in this case. That could open up a whole world of pain on a high value sale. Just use the eBay label provided.

For a grand, I'd be hand delivering it and videoing the process.
It must be worth enough for you to want to sell it, and so, be a loss to have shenanigans.
Absolutely that. There is no way I’d be posting £1k eBay sale. You’d be a lot better off putting the lot on red at your nearest casino. It must be worth enough for you to want to sell it, and so, be a loss to have shenanigans.
