Energy Co. - Early Exit Fee
Discussion
I’m half way through an fixed term energy contract.
Its been a while since I’ve moved house, but historically whenever you moved, it terminated the contract and no early exit fees were due.
It appears this is no longer the case, or certainly with Fuse Energy. They want £100 to terminate, is this the case with all energy companies now?

Won't they let you port the agreement to your new house?
They will, but only on a new contract. I only have 4 months left, but will need to sign a new 12 months contact. Doesn’t seem fair. I would be happy running the remaining 4 months down at the new property.Im wanting to go with Octopus or any other provider that has a cheap EV rate now I have a driveway, Fuse doesn’t offer one.
£100 is nothing in the big picture of things. Pay it and run, they don t sound like a particularly nice/good supplier to spend a further 12mo in contract with!
I think I had similar with BG. £100 to cancel contract with dual fuel, no doubt it’d port with new contract.
Even my internet provider wanted a new contract when I moved, even though they did nothing and provided nothing and kept my business… but scummy if you ask me.

So I think I ve beaten the system. Managed to transfer the utilities to the new property on a variable non fixed contract.
Hopefully should then be able to transfer back out to my preferred supplier, with no exit fees.
Electric transferred on 21 March
Just waiting on the gas to transfer 24 March as it was with a separate supplier.
