Can anyone help, the Girlfriend wants to take a long weekend over the Easter break to see the Dutch tulip fields, anyone got any suggestions that are away from the main tourist hotspot of Amsterdam?
We would also like to get some gentle cycling in on at least one of the days.

The bulb fields are centred around the town of Lisse (where I happen to have grown up) which is 20k or so south of Amsterdam.

There you will also find the Keukenhof gardens (which should be open by Easter I think).

A day at the keukenhof and a day cycling around the lanes and roads next to the fields should satisfy both flower and biking desires.

The sea isn’t far away either so you could visit that, or Nordwijk woods.

Fancy something more scientific? You could cycle to ESTEC, the European space agancy facility and visit their museum and visitors centre.

Haarlem has the Cory tenBoom house which is like Anne Frank but smaller and IMHO better.

And you never have to set foot in Amsterdam.
