GT2 or GT3RS..

After selling my GT3 less than 3 mths ago, am now seriously considering another 911. :o

Had the CSL for 1 month, then sold..
then bought a Sagaris, which although is an awesome beast, am wondering whether long term, is the right car for me.!

Fact is, that the 911 in the right incarnation, is pretty much the best car on the planet. :D

I know everyone who remembers my GT3/CSL posts, will tell me so, but I needed to stray .. to really appreciate, what a great car Porsche build.

Hence my new dilema,
With a budget of 70k max, am looking at a 2002/03 GT2, or a 03/04 RS

Feel free to comment and abuse me, for straying from the mark, and wasting my cash.. :yikes:

You are a true class act mate !!!!

I think the GT2 will be a hoot, especially for the kind of money they can be had, and the tunning possibilties are endless.

Having said that, they are supposed to be down right scary in the wet, and will need a good set up to be potent on the track (around the corners anyway)

Not sure how much further south the prices are gonna go though ???

The RS will be a future classic, and if you are gonna actually keep a car for longer than 5 minutes, it will be the best bet, and will feel that bit more special IMHO
It is certainly one of the best track weapons around as many know.

I remember that thread well,at the time it was suggested to you that it was more of a Question of blood fever that had you changing,i.e changing for changing's sake?You said that you needed more space,do you remember?It was a whole thread trying to justify your move.I'm glad to see certain people were right.I like the name change rob KURGEN,highlander is'nt it?I,m glad you are coming back mate,your posts have been missed around here.Ps i meant to ask you about your delta did you like it?I had two in the late 80's from walkers,loved them,but always kept dropping to bits,there is a new one on the way for 2008.

Well the GT2 and the Sagaris are very different ways of doing a very similar thing....

I should know as I run them both (Yeah I know how lucky I am).

Superb! Been looking for as bigger idiot as me (5 cars in 9 months last year) and now I think I've found one.

Can't comment on GT2 v RS - I own one but haven't driven the other. For what it's worth though (and this may be of interest to you at the moment) I think GT2's will level off from here, and may even rise slightly, given there will be no 997 equivalent.

I have a 2002 GT2 Clubsport in metallic black which I love to bits and has provided the best fun and learning experience this year I have ever had in a car.

Sadly I am thinking of sellng it as I am now out in Spain 99% of the time due to business commitments and I am struggling to justify keeping it even though I am very, very good at normally convincing myself of any car deal!! It just seems a waste it sitting there all month when it should be being driven and enjoyed. I havent really looked into prices but would imagine approx 65-66K, it is in excellent condition and I have only had it 6 months, it is regularly maintained, with oil changed after every trackday, brand new race spec disc pads at the front and I am about to change the rear tyres.

Let me know your thoughts, I am also down near the south coast if thats good for you. I can email you some pics or upload them to one of my servers if you want to have a look at the car.

Oh and not getting into a fight with anyone on here or causing offense..... but INHO having owned GT3 Mk1, Mk2 and RS before finally going for the GT2.

I didn't buy one earlier as they were always difficult to get a proper test drive in and had read the reviews and thought it was just pants... then I drove one... and fell in love....

But a GT2 is a very challenging car to drive and will not help you out unlike the sublime GT3's, but when you do get it right, there is nothing like it...

One of those experiences that you just have to experience to understand.

RS undoubteldy, much more positive feedback when driving , i sold a GT2 to buy my RS and have never looked back, i love the car .

I notice you had your CSL quite a long time for you it must have been very special car for you to keep it so long !!!

I think you should try Glenn's Manthey'd Mk2 it drives fantastic on circuit & with 417 bhp you won't need a GT2...

get a gt2 and then a gt3rs - in that order. gt2's are cheap enough now that the amount you'll lose on depreciation will be minimal. by the time you sell it gt3rs's will have come down even more, making them an even better buy... if you want details of where to get an excellent '2' then let me know...

Thanks for all the replies and comments.. have purchased an absolute mint perfect RS.. Red/white, fully loaded, xenons, full colour coded cage and center console, etc.

Car has 3k miles, 1 owner, harnesses and extiquisher still in original boxes.. car was originally purchased as investment, not for trackwork.

Will collect later today, or in the morning..

I still stick by my previous statement, that the CSL is a fantastic car, and the price I paid for mine, was serious performance per pound.

The goal post has moved now, because GT3's and RS's, have dropped so much in price.!

I was just looking at an old copy of Top Marques dated Oct 04.. There was an RS listed, very similar to the car I've just bought.. price was £91k

I have just paid high 60s.!

The RS in particular is now, an absolute performance bargain, similar to what the CSL has become, over the last year or so.
