ahh good i'm glad someone noticed!

first pic was 50mm at (i think) f/2 and bounce flash

all others 70-200mm at f/4, natural light

actually the reason im posting them here is because i'm not showing them to her yet, and i wanted someone to see them! they are here for two weeks, over from america, and we are going to venice for a week on friday. im going to get a book made up for their christmas present, but i want it to be a suprise

How do you change your pics to Black and White David ?
I guess it's no just gray-scale

it was unti la few months ago

i made myself an action that allows me to easily choose how much of the red channel i use, from 100% (so the same as just pressing ctrl/cmd+1 in photoshop) to 0% which is just a normal desaturation. i normally use a value between 40-70%

no, i dont use the channel mixer

not sure whether i should be giving away my trade secrets!

my action does this

1)convert to red channel
2)copy entire canvas
3)convert back to RGB
4)desaturate
5)paste red channel layer on top
6)adjust opacity of layer
7)flatten

voila

For me numbers 2 and 4 are wonderful images. I'm sure your sister will love them.

thanks. i think 4 is my favourite too
