Ignition Key Aux position 1
Discussion
May I re-open an old topic? It was last raised 5 years ago but doesn’t seem to get resolved.
The Vauxhall switch on the ignition (90052497) doesn’t have a contact for Aux, the first position, for the radio. It does have the notch as you turn the key, but no contact. They are about £10 on eBay.
In 2011 Brian Millar mentions he had done a modification and documented it on the Chimaera Pages, but I can’t find it and the links no longer work. I have emailed him but no reply so far.
There is also mention of removing a piece of plastic, but nothing obvious in the switch.
Looking on Vauxhall forums there are some complex electronic solutions using the Parking (P) terminal (which is live when the key is off) but even these are not quite the same.
There is a mention that later Vauxhalls have a working Aux position, and it is unlikely they changed the mechanical design, but I haven’t managed to confirm this. It might be a straight swap, but it also might need a different connector.
So the question is, does anyone have a definitive answer to this challenge or have access to the document Brian Millar produced?
Thanks
David

Yes ...XWORKS altered mine by removing the piece of plastic many years ago ... probably based on the information you can't find .. sorry
Sure that was a PH thread on the subject
Editted ... Thought so

Looks like when the TVR Car Club took over Chimaerapages , some of the info has been lost.. Unfortunately I can't find the instructions I printed off years ago . I vaguely remember the plastic insulated the contact position , with it removed a contact was made.
