"A police officer described as "power crazy" launched a tirade of abuse at a woman in front of her grandchildren and became so angry at people parking outside his house he dragged a man out of his car and arrested him."

It goes without saying that sometimes parking causes problems but this was a little extreme. I'm just not sure how the former officer thought they would get away with it as computer access to sensitive data leaves an audit trail.

Parking is one of those things that triggers an enormously disproportionate reaction in many people. Funny.

It sounds as though he has become mentally unwell. I am guessing he was at one point, a stable and rational guy who seems to have lost his mind. Of course, now that he has been sacked the force can just put that to one side.

If known, then surely he would have been required to surrender his warrant card if signed offer sick?

No, there is no need to strip someone of their warrant card if they're off sick.
