I have been using an old Huawei 4G mifi for over 10 years very successfully for "internet on the go" but the battery has died and it struggled last year in Spain - the local network had been upgraded so it would not get online very well. So time for a new modem and why not go 5G so it is as future proofed as possible?
I am looking at these 2: a ZTE U30 AIR https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B0DVH35LVY
or a TP-Link Archer NX210: https://www.amazon.co.uk/TP-Link-Archer-NX210-AX18...
Any views or experiences with either? I know the TP-Link is more expensive but I am leaning in that direction due to bigger size meaning better sensitivity and I don't really need a battery in the device any more. The TP-Link also has a better firewall, which I think is a good thing.

What you need is a router, not a modem. Well, the router contains a modem but still...
I used one of these in a rental property for 3 months and it was brilliant. Obviously the Internet connection speed is dependent on the area you are in.

Can't you use your mobile phone to create a hot spot ?
One place we go have questionable signal and I know a proper modem is more sensitive than a phone. Also, gives you the option of setting it up in a good location and just leaving it there. The added bonus is that we get 20GB data/month roaming in Spain per SIM so adding another one on Lebara for a few quid a month for the modem gives us more data when we are away.

Thanks - I hadn't spotted that one. I like the fact that that one has more security built in rather than just NAT...I used one of these in a rental property for 3 months and it was brilliant. Obviously the Internet connection speed is dependent on the area you are in.
