we've been looking for a taproom venue for a few years now, but operate within a notoriously difficult planning are (Peak Park) so we've had a few false starts, but finally have got change of use on a decent sized industrial unit.

Given what's going on in the world, do I need my senses checking?!

Very likely you are when you see how many seem to be closing.

A good half a dozen at least within a few miles from here.

Good luck.

Unless you already have a following or almost unlimited resources a tap room is a great way to lose a large amount of money quickly right now.

The IPA craft beer bubble is bursting and only the established/ willing to adapt will survive.

Cider was a '00's thing

Gin has had its day too.

Craft Rum is probably at its peak just now.

You need to identify the next big thing and go there with your money.

I think its probably fortfied wine but am willing to be corrected.

it's non/ low alcohol beer. even diageo reckon the majority of irish carling will be 0% in 5 years time.

Could combine both ideas . And open a bucky tap room.

Buckfast on tap, sold by the pint!

That is already a thing though and all the big brands have their low/non alcoholic drink/brand.
Its not going to be a worthwhile investment for a first timer.

can't make it realistically on our scale anyway. we're sticking to that nice style of beer with alcohol content wink

anyone peak district based or visiting, come on down!

Good advice.

It's probably a good moment to remind everyone that Brewdog used to be a thing and is now a shadow of its former self.

only on temp licenses so far. got planning change about a week ago and now going though alcohol licence process. reopening for easter weekend and hoping we don't burn though our 21 temp days before the permanent premises licence lands.

A PHer has a taco van if I recall?

Pair up with a suitable local food business.

And do not underestimate the appeal of 'proper' cider. What's sold at most places is p1ss.

Mate has a taproom attached to his brewery , live music every weekend with pizza ovens and within walking distance of decent populace . However he offers a full range of beers , AF only if that's your plan could limit the atmosphere tbh .

I think your location will be critical. Put it in the right place and it could be a goldmine.

On an industrial estate between the scaffolders yard and the independent Land Rover specialist, with no passing trade or tourists, and you might struggle.

The weakness with IPA craft beer is that it mostly tastes disgusting (...and often gives me sinus headaches).

It may be worth a try if you have a brewery.
