Do you like them ?

Are you “too old” for them ?

I got told I was but I still love them, not been on one for a little while but age won’t stop me unless a doctor tells me.

Am planning on booking an aerobatic flight as well.

I used to love them as a kid but once I did some jumping out of planes, they seem a touch dull... I do go on them for the kids of friends where said friends won't go on them (not kidding)...

I’m not a fan of the larger and more extreme ones, but when I took the kids to Yarmouth Pleasure Beach a couple of years ago I made a point of going on Roller Coaster. Love the old wooden scenic railway/big dipper type rides or a wild mouse.

We’ll be going to Port Aventura and Ferrari Land later in the year, I’ll see if I can summon up the courage to take on Red Force. Probably not…

As long as they are in a forward direction and not looping the loop or leaving my organs behind.

I'm similar to this. Not one for chasing huge thrills but I loved Roller Coaster when I was younger and also go to Blackpool pleasure beach about once a year for the classics.

Also Big Thunder Mountain is good fun at Disneyland

Get your aerobatic flight booked in- will make rollercoasters seem a bit lame ;-)

Love them. Seems to have got mildly fanboy about them despite being in my mid 40s! Its been a good way of spending time with my equally keen late teen daughter the last few years and have racked up a fair few visits across Europe the last few years. I cringe when I saw this but actually tallied the coaster count over 2024 and 2025 which amounted to 80 different coasters over those two years...

Some great parts in Europe which are far better than those in the UK. Europapark and Phantasialand (both Germany) have probably been my favourite with Portaventura (Spain) and efteling (Netherlands) pretty decent too.

Every year I say this is the year I *have* to go back to Alton Towers. Maybe this year actually is. I really want to ride Smiler and Wicker Man.

Gutted that Oakwood has closed because Megafobia was a superb coaster.

Coney Island Cyclone is a lovely, rattling bit of history.

I do like them but my inner ear calls time quite quickly these days.

I did Nemesis back to back when it reopened as I practically the first one there in the morning so got a couple of go's in.

I felt sick and couldn't walk straight afterwards. As a kid I've gone on it 10 times plus in a day no issues.

I generally love them (54 yo). Although I don't like Oblivion at Alton Towers, because it stops just before the main drop and then let's go. I don't like that pause. I'm also not a huge fan of Rita or Stealth because the carriage goes backward very slightly before firing you into the horizon. I refused to go on them for a few years...but I got over it because the acceleration is amazing.

Love them, thought the UK parks were decent until I went over to Disney/Universal and Busch Gardens.
They have some brilliant coasters over there.

Really want to try Falcons Flight at Six Flags in Riyadh at some point, looks amazing.

Love them. We took our daughter to Anaheim Disney in 24.
Wife and friends went off to do some smaller rides and I went on the Incredicoaster. It was absolutely fantastic and was the highlight of my day.
We'd done Space Mountain and plenty of others but that "3,2,1 Go" sticks in my head for the insane immediate acceleration.

It's odd, I used to love them but last time I went to a big theme park I was in my late 20s. Me and my partner at the time went to Thorpe Park, it was a really quiet day and we didn't have to queue for anything, so we ended up going on 14-15 different rides. Not sure why it was different to when I'd last been in my early 20s but I just didn't enjoy the rides.

I've taken my kids on various rides in the last 12 years but nothing that significant.

Not sure age has anything to do with it though. My grandad absolutely loved fairs and whenever they'd arrive locally to use, he'd want to go. Took my mum as a kid and me when I was a kid, he enjoyed the rides and stalls as much as we did.

I've always loved them. So much so that for my 60th birthday my Wife and I went to Alton Towers for the day. We ended up leaving about 4pm because I really couldn't face another ride on anything. I guess it's an age thing - I still love the idea, but I don't think my body does.

They're too safe to be exciting IMO, although the horrific crash at Alton Towers (IIRC) maybe puts paid to that. But bored with a 1 in a million chance of being maimed isn't my idea of a good day out. biggrin And the queueing! Life's too short.

I did go on a proper old school Ferris wheel a few years ago, that was quite amusing as it looked sketchy as fk!

But no, you're not too old...

At 47 I'm still enjoying them, if fact we've just come back from 10 days in Orlando. Riding the new stardust racers at epic universe was awesome. The whole family enjoys the theme parks, its just even with fast track or speedy boarding or whatever each park calls it, I hate queuing over 30mins just for a ride.
The apps nowadays make it better to plan on which ride to do as it shows you the wait times.

The only thing that's a bit odd is that my wife says as soon as myself and our son go on the rides we turn into a pair of Americans a whoopin and a hollerin.biglaugh
