How would you span this gap??

From the pond deck to a path... It's had a pair of short scaffold planks there for a while.

Just trying to work out how to attach either end as it's not parallel.

That particular one wouldn't look right, but does give me an idea that would make building and attaching it much simpler.

A wooden A Frame each side with a cross bar at the top to attach a length of rope with a knot at the bottom and do a tarzan swing.

Not forgetting to let out a tarzan yell as you swing over.

Perfect. Also, depending on your pond size, will cope with a small tidal range

It is just a big step, but if it's slippy or you're carrying anything unwieldy it could go badly. (It goes over a rarely used waterfall, hark at us!)

Looks aren't that important (luckily given what I've made), but that's a bit too industrial.

Bill, if you are looking for a less industrial version of the "staging board" (new term learned today!) - perhaps look at "passerelles" as a search term. Apologies if you have a fleet of boats, but that's a common name for the gangway/gangplank, and will give plenty of good looking options.
