Travel Insurance Question
Discussion
Sitting here researching/booking holidays for later in the year and - maybe due to being more aware of our ages - a question arose in my mind.
We have an annual travel insurance policy which comes up for renewal in May. I may or may not renew with the same company.
So, if I book a hotel now for July with no cancellation option and then have to cancel in June because of health issues, which policy would I claim off? Let's call the policies 25 and 26, would it be the 25 policy because it was in force at the time of booking, or the 26 because that's when the problem arose?
Anyone faced this situation of potentially claiming on an 'expired' policy?

Yes, you just claim off the policy that was in effect when the issue occurred. Lots of people change their annual travel insurance provider when they already have trips booked. And people who don't have annual cover buy single trip cover AFTER they booked the holiday. So in theory they had no insurance at the time of booking. Doesn't matter, it's the insurance in place when the claim occurred.
