I have recently moved house and am in the process of sorting out my various bits of kit.

I have an old, but barely used, iMac with the following connections:

I would like to use it with an M1 Mac Mini which has USB C Thunderbolt connectors.

Would some kind soul tell me what cable I need to make it work? I assume it's simply thunderbolt to thunderbolt - but would like that confirmed if possible.

It's to run the Mac Mini effectively headless, so just required for set up more than anything else - the Mini is only running Roon Core.

We'd need to know exactly which model iMac, as the function I'm assuming you're talking about (target display mode) was removed from iMacs from about 2013 on.

If your iMac does support it, them here are the instructions...

That's a model code for a range of 21.5" iMacs...not a specific model ID. That model covers 2012 to 2017, so some will support TDM and others won't.

Specific model IDs that should support TDM would be something like 2011-2014 iMacs that have Thunderbolt ports - so 12,1 (Late 2011), 13,1 (Late 2012); 14,1 (Early 2013), 14,3 (Late 2013) / 14,4 (Mid 2014).

Some 2009 and 2010 models with MiniDisplay support it too.

I am pretty sure it is a 21.5-inch, Mid 2014 iMac.
