Audi A6 All-Road RS/GTS wannabe
Discussion
I'll preface this with, I know
1/ This probably makes zero sense to most people
2/ I'm probably an idiot for attempting to do this
3/ I am not great at telling a short story!
For previous idiocy, see here:

After owning a 3.0 diesel RR Velar HSE for the last 3.5 years, I really enjoyed the car but it/ownership had a couple of flaws, and while super comfy and plenty capable, it wasn t very fun to drive.
However, I am now used to super comfy seats, air suspension, nice interiors etc, so I don t want to stray too far from this new-to-me standard
So checklist for new car:
£10-20k
Mostly depreciated already
Relatively reliable
Not awful maintenance costs
Good local indy garage
Luxury / Sporty interior
Fast enough to be fun
Makes good noise (petrol minimum, ideally NA)
Handles well / can deal with enthusiastic b-road driving
Comfy
Air suspension
Plus needs to be big enough for all the crap that comes with family trips we do (wife and 2x young boys)
Can tow
Best local indy garages near me are BMW and VAG, so that was where I focussed
Some cars that dropped off the list early
Audi B8 S4 avant/SQ5 - slightly too small, no air sus, interior isn t the nicest
Audi B9 S4 avant/SQ5 - slightly too small, no air sus, turbo V6 doesn t sound great
E70 X5M - reliability, air suspension on rear but these are are so uncomfortable
F15 X5 4.4i - not fast, V8 doesn t sound good, won t hold up to enthusiastic b-road driving
F10 M5 - reliability, saloon only so boot limited
E60 M5 - reliability, saloon only so boot limited, estates too expensive
E90 M3 - too small, saloon only so boot limited
The shortlist
958 Porsche Cayenne 4.8 GTS - ticks lots of boxes, but almost too big for what I need and the back end is one only a mother could love
C7 Audi S6/RS6 - almost perfect, but my budget would be a leggy saloon, so would mean going overbudget, and the turbo V8 isn t the best sounding thing out there IMO (I am not a big V8 fan)
E90 M3 - out of budget, too small, no air sus, can t tow, V8 (although S65 is exception to my rule) but serious contender anyway
However I settled on this .
A6 allroad 3.0TFSI (supercharged V6 like the B8 S4)
It ticks a lot of the boxes, however it misses quite a few too..
It is not a fun level of fast, makes no noise, does not handle well, and won t hold up to any sort of enthusiastic driving.
It is currently sat in allroad mode so at 80% max ride height here

Full SE spec interior

So the challenge I have is to take this unassuming, gentlemanly, all-road and try to make it my idea of a V6 S/RS6 / A6 GTS hopefully for less than what the RS/S6 avant I should have bought

I had the previous gen Allroad with the same engine... had the same sort of idea, quick remap and 400+ bhp... but the requirement for more space came along and I sold it. Super comfy (air and adaptive damping
) but not a particularly engaging car. Front tyre condition wasthe biggest contributor to handling... once they wear get ready for truly incredible terminal understeer in the wet!
