Ferritin levels
Discussion
A week ago I went for a blood test for testosterone.
Nothing more than pure curiosity and to help me with my training as I have found my muscle mass is kind of peaking out and even with 180-200g of protein a day I felt like my progress had stalled. Few people at the gym said to get a testosterone test so I rang GP and booked in.
Nurse I saw said they would do a few different tests at the same time - bit of a check up.
Everything came back in normal ranges but ferritin was 600. They ran a second test yesterday and that's 700.
Nurse has said it could be anything causing it but now need to see GP as it needs looking at as NHS levels for men are they should be below 400.
I get a lot of my protein from red meat, mostly beef which is high in iron. Some days I do eat a lot of it - up to 3-400g I would say per day. I also eat quite a lot of eggs, 20 a week is not unusual. I have no symptoms of anything wrong and have plenty of energy and I do quite a bit of cardio along with my lifts on my off days. The only time I am really fatigued is by the weekend after 3 days of lifting and usually a 10-15km walk thrown in somewhere too.
I have not been eating much in the way of carbs since the new year as I am on a push to drop some fat. I also take a vit C supplement every day, which from what I have read can be a bad idea.
Anyone else been in a similar situation?
From what I have read online some people are saying its basically impossible to get high ferritin from diet so its either a genetic condition or inflammation from many different possibilities, others are saying that it can be diet related.

I had a bad dose of man flu (tm) but that was in feb - did take a few weeks to shift. I was a bit run down after that did spring a cold sore which I very occasionally get maybe one every 2-3 years. Thats just about cleared now.
Re diabetes don't think so no - I have been to GP a handful of times in the last 20 years.
