North West Trade Centre - 3 year warranty?
Discussion
Instagram is full of adverts for the north west trade centre (mind you all of my reels are car related!).
On every advert they talk about providing a 3 year warranty
Who the hell provides a 3 year warranty on cars as old as 2009?
I take it this is a classic case of marketing and the warranty doesn’t cover anything meaningful?

I'd want to see the exemptions as well as what is actually covered
And the other scapegoat, 'wear and tear'. Then there's the cap on value of repair combined with a max labour rate. Aftermarket warranties are rarely any good.
About 4 years ago we bought a 10 year old Fiat 500 as a 2nd car / runaround, the salesman seemed quite offended when I decided to not purchase the 12 month warranty on it for an additional £200.
I'd read the warranty cover and the list of exclusions and limitations, including a £500 financial limit for a 10 year old car, left me thinking it was worth me keeping the £200 in my pocket in case anything went wrong.
He didn't even realise there was such a low limit on 10 year old cars...!

I clicked on a random Jeep Renegade and it said this:
The features of this MINI Countryman enhance the driving experience. The rear parking distance control is a valuable aid for navigating tight spaces. The Bluetooth connectivity ensures you stay connected on the move. The stylish interior trim provides a comfortable and visually appealing environment.
I couldn't find anything on their website about the warranty, but they love to overpost text guff. This worried me a little:

This company reminds me of a defunct dealer in Maidstone - Williams Automotive - where they used to state, this vehicle is £19,999 plus a £199 admin fee, plus £1,499 for a 3 year platinum diamond gold carat titanium warantee [sic], plus a £299 made up fee, plus GAP at £799

NWTC seem to get some decent reviews but I imagine the 3 year warranty is something that you pay for ( after the first 6 months or whatever is foc ) and what it actually covers or is worth will be down to the terms and conditions. On every advert they talk about providing a 3 year warranty

I am still amazed that people BUY warranties for a secondhand car! There was a big shakeup in the car buying sphere, in 2015, when the Consumer Rights Act came in. While it was intended for all consumer goods, car sales got included and its an incredibly comprehensive piece of law which massively favours the consumer. I don't think a warranty, short of a typical new car warranty (which tend to be for >1 year these days) adds anything of value. But people are still paying.
