Shower bar replacement

Hello all - I am going to replace our shower thermo mixer bar thingy. Which seems simple enough, however, prior to buying a replacement, i have been doing some research and it seems that these are universal and that the cold water feed should meet the temperature control side of the bar. However, looking at our current installation, the hot water side meets the thermo mixer side of bar, and the cold water pipe side does the on/off/overhead shower/hand held.

Just a bit confused. Has our bathroom fitter flipped it through 180 degrees and installed it 'upside down'?

Is there such a shower bar that has the temp control on the left side and meeting the hot water feed? All the pictures i have seen online have the opposite scenario to ours. Our hot water pipe runs up the left hand side, feeding the bath tap and then the shower bar.

Any advice or input welcome.

Mine both have the hot inlet on the left and the temp adjustment on the RHS

As long as the hot input is on the left, it shouldn't matter which side the temp or on/off controls are. Make sure the inputs are 150mm apart.

I got one of these recently, ridiculously cheap and works fine.

Hot on the left is pretty standard it seems.
Plenty on ebay for 25 quid or so, which is where ours came from.

There are two flavours, bottom exit for a flexi hose, or top exit for a rigid riser pipe.

Hot inlet on the left, but temp adjust on the right is normal.
In as much as anything is actually 'standard'.
