Hi all,

I'm thinking of looking at an Audi Q4 e-tron as a used purchase, but I'm a bit confused by the range display on this particular one. Is this display saying that it's 100% charged, but predicting a range of 207 miles? This is an 82kwh with a WLTP of 321 miles. Now I know that's not the real world range, but if it's only showing 207 at 100% charged, I'm a bit put off by this.

Or am I reading it wrong?

The range is broadly based on the previous/recent journeys. So if its been shuffling round yards/compounds etc then the m/kwh will be pants.

My iX3 always seems to pick a number out of a hat regarding range, but you learn to know what range/% used you get based on your driving so generally ignore it.

Yeah I'm used to that in my Leaf. What I was wondering was if I was misreading the display here because it's confusing. There are two "100%"s shown on the left hand dial. Is this vehicle actually charged to 100%?

Isnt the upper green portion of the LHD 'dial' the 'power' meter (cf throttle) and the bit of the diial on the lower right the battery percentage?
Lookslike it is charged to 100% to me

Edit to add : Says 'Power' at the bottom left of the dial so the above seems correct

Also, 200 miles on an 80kw battery is 2.5miles/kw which is roughly what I'm getting in my non-Audi SUV currently in cold weather and fast motorway driving, so could quite well be a realistic winter range.

The screen is configurable to show different info. The driver assist section can be altered to show more useful stuff.

The Q4 has a useable battery capacity of 76-77kWh when new and at 50k miles there will have been some degradation

The reality is it'll average around 3 mile/kWh over a year, so 2.8 miles/kWh at the temperatures shown is nothing unusual dependent on how it's recently been driven.

3 miles per Kwh average gives you 246 miles.

I'd work off that

Not in a 50k mile car with a battery that's 77kWh useable when new.

When you charge the car, the remaining range tends to depend on the ambient temperature. I regularly charge mine from very low (4-5%) to 100% and the range displayed at 100% charge ranges from 205 miles when it s around freezing, to 285-290 miles when the outside temperature is above 18C or so.

I should add my car is an Enyaq VRS which is (mechanically) virtually the same car as the Q4. If that Q4 is anything like the Enyaq then you ll never get less than about 210 miles and never more than about 290 miles from a full charge. It s mostly temperature dependent as well (IME), although getting a low readout when it’s fully charged and isn’t cold indicates maybe the previous driver has been blasting up and down the motorway? The battery should be as good as new at 50,000 miles but I’d want to get it checked before buying if the 100% range is that low.
