Was hoping some of you guys could guide me a bit here, I'm looking for a 2nd car and I'm pretty set on an A4 or A5. I currently have a ford fiesta 2017 that I've had for over 5 years, just a bit bored of it now if I'm honest. I want something a little bit more luxury and a bit faster, I dont want a blisteringly quick car but just something thats got a good quick to it lol, the fiesta is painfully slow.

As I said I'm pretty set on an A4 or A5, I dont want another hatchback and I generally really like the look of Audis inside and out. I've got a budget of about 15k but to be honest I dont want to spend that much, I'd rather be spending closer to 10k. I was having a look and it seems like from 2016 at least is when the interiors were more modernised with a big screen etc.

My main 2 specifics are as long as its pretty good on fuel and is an automatic. I'm really unsure on what sort of mileage to go for, I dont know if going higher mileage is fine or not, and obviously the lower you go then the more you pay so I guess its about finding a balance. So if anyone could help guide me it would be appreciated, A4 or A5, modern interior, automatic, ideally for 10-12k.

webuyanycar values my fiesta at 3.5k

Hey,

It depends on what sort of look you want as not sure if by an A4 you are also considering the Avant? That would be my preference but if you aren't, then the A5 would be a bit more interesting to look at over an A4 and the interior as you know is the same.

I did look at them a while ago and was mulling over the 2.0 petrol and diesels. The petrols looked to be a bit quicker but you obviously do a bit less MPG. The diesels I believe are reliable but I guess with the current diesel prices, there's not probably a lot between them at the moment in running costs.

Others I am sure will be able to advise on engines and reliability with more specific detail than I can. All I can say is I had that interior in an SQ5 previously and it was a nice place to be and had no problems with anything failing. Looking forward to hearing what others say about which engines to potentially choose as I am not sure!

Forgot to add, try and get one with the B&O / Bose sound system. Makes a massive difference.

If you want to find one then I'd actually be looking at a Mercedes/BMW as they have a conventional auto vs dual clutch auto.

My son in 2022, bought from Audi a 2016 A4 TDI S Line 190 Manual Saloon.

I thought it was a great car and when he got a company car 18 months later, I used it for a few weeks. The performance, refinement and handling were all really good and I couldn t recommend them enough.

You need to find the right car, with low ownership and a full Audi or specialist service history. If you’re doing mainly town driving or short trips then I’d go for the petrol. If you’re doing some long journeys in the month, then I’d go for the diesel making sure it’s the 190 BHP version. Specification wise, I’d be looking at nothing less than S Line or Black Edition.

The A5 (in 2 door form) to me still looks an elegant classy car. Price wise, I’d be looking around the £15k mark.
