Toying with the idea of a change
Discussion
So gets to that time of year and getting itchy feet of a change currently have a original Noble m12 which have had since 07 and that's a keeper.Over the last year have also had a v6 Emira has been a great car looks great goes well enough and makes a good noise too.But I have often had thoughts to the full on supercar experience and potentially 650s.I accept that its going to be an older car but prices look to have crept up of late with nice coupes around 80k plus Realistically the cost to change is going to be 30k ish.Id probably just tuck money away for repairs rather than warranty.Have there been anyone thats made similar jump? .Also trying to justify it in my head by being a potential investment too lol
If you enjoy Lotus and Nobles I think there is a good chance you ll love a McLaren. They drive like a grown up Lotus and the only negative I can think of is the engine sound isn’t to everyone s taste. The handling and steering feel is sublime, so it depends on where that sits in your list of priorities versus the engine note.

I agree with the above comment.
A lot of McLaren guys came from Lotus. In fact a lot of the original MP4 12C engineers came from Lotus.
I'm sure you will love the McLaren. It has a lot of Lotus DNA. Think of it as a properly engineered Noble
I've had 2 Lotus, a Caterham, and have driven a Noble when they were new (plus many other cars). I'm on my second McLaren now.

I’ve recently purchased a 650S (previously owned two 720S). If I could turn the clock back, I would not have bought the 720S. The real-world driving and performance experience is minimal. Build quality of the 650S is better than early 720S (not hard really). Probably best supercar there is for the money. As relevant today as it was 11 years ago.
Be quick, there’s a small quantity of 650S for sale. They seem to be sought after and prices are heading north. Probably best to make some proactive enquire with independent specialists such as Thorney, Jack Webb Motorsport and Alastair Bols
You’ll not be disappointed l.

I would second this recommendation. In addition, I like the P11 interior with elegant waterfalls and an analog tachometer.Be quick, there s a small quantity of 650S for sale. They are all great cars and generally a very similar driving experience just fast and faster but in the real world!! I`m on my 3rd and 11 years in... had Evora`s/Exige`s/Elise`s... still have two Lotii. Might go back to an Evora one day if the world allows such a thing?
Not sure I agree entirely about the sound, yes maybe at low revs pottering about (relative term) but give it any beans and revs with the roof down, I`d take it over most cars and I`ve been in 458/Aventadors etc... mind an Aventador from the roadside is very special!
Get a car that has had regular use and ideally not too many owners, plus either buy from the above mentioned and with a warranty, or get a thorough inspection prior to purchase... and a warranty at least for the first year... and use it!
I`ve ended up with a 570Spyder and I`d still (personally) have it over a 650 due to many minor improvements from a usability point of view. The self levelling suspension is fantastic, but the standard coils are still brilliant without the cost and complexity. My previous was a 675LT which was a special car but the 570 is 95% of the car without the worry of damage etc etc.

Really appreciate all the tips and advice from all on here.I did drive a 12c many moons ago and remember the noise being a bit flat but I didn't put in sport mode and I know that makes a big difference.I do like the look of the coupes but with there not being a huge difference outlay for a spider maybe thats the way to go with it being 2 cars in one. Will join up some of the mclaren fb groups
