I am currently thinking of getting out of my A45 AMG.

Its been a great daily driver and i'm only interested in having one car really. My situation doesn't allow for two. But it does allow for a budget of about £70k but can stretch for the right car. This will be a daily driver. But i want it to be something special.

I don't want anything more then 10 years old.

It will be a daily driver, So will be on school runs, weekends away, car shows, shopping trips. So needs to be able to hold up to 4 people and some level of luggage.

As always it needs to be compromised, so can't be out and out sports car but does need sport car credentials. I love my driving, will be doing track days, will be doing weekends through wales, scotland, europe etc.

I want something that will draw attention, look good at shows, be a talking point as well.

I don't want an SUV or big car. So i'm looking at mid-sized saloons, convertible, coupes.

That'd be an Alfa Giulia Quadrifoglio for me.

I have one, and I'd say it ticks most boxes. It doesn't draw attention though (which is a big plus for me).

I'd also say that it is a pretty large car, so may not suit the OP for that reason.

That was the first option which sprang to mind for me.

2nd would be a Porsche Panamera.

Or Aston Martin Rapide...?

M5 is the traditional response to this, I d have thought

Edit: missed the “draw attention” requirement. Probably doesn’t do that, although if you get one in the right colour and set the exhaust to loud then maybe it might…

There is a live thread at the moment regarding LC500 - would that work?

Depending on the balance between size, rawness and luxury I love the Panamera ST and Rapide but both are pretty big. The Alfa would be more fun to track.

A Bentley Continental GT or GT Speed is a genuine 4-seater and in budget but again not really a track weapon.
A Supersports may be though while rare are pretty much in budget for the age range.

I have to admit its been high up on the list, i think they garter enough "good" attention. I don't want to be too lairy or anything, just like to have a car that sparks conversation with fellow petrolheads and stands out in a crowd. Its nice driving something not everyone else has. One of the reasons for leaving the A45 behind.

I think size wise, the Alfa would be about the biggest i'd go for.

I had considered the C63s Edition 1, M4 Comp (i do like the G* series M4 and the convertible too). Maybe an M3. But they all seem a bit too "common". So the Alfa ticks that box too. You do not see many compared to M3/M4

I wonder if my brief suits more a GT Coupe

Before everyone says urgh.... G80 M3 (in the right colour - they need to be bold as it works well with the front end) I use mine daily I get positive comments about the colour from random passers by in Waitrose car park. No haters so far.... It's practical we often take my mother in law with for family things and she's comfortable in the back for decent distances. I drive a 200 mile round trip for work once a week and on long runs can get circa 30mpg. Job done

Thanks for the ideas. Some good choices from anyone.

Like the idea of the QF and the C63s - they both tick quite a few boxes. The c63 certainly has theatre and looks for it. The QF the looks and the design.

I may open it up to older cars tbh as i think maybe a 911 could be on the menu as well.

I'd be a bit careful about drawing too much attention.
You may wake up one night with someone standing by your bed looking for the keys yikes

Personally I wouldn t let the what if or actions of others rule my life. With that mentality you would be scared to do anything!

Back on topic I aren t sure what I would go for. I do like the LC500! But might not be practical enough.

I'd suggest a 911 will be too compromised for your needs space wise unfortunately.

But if 2 doors is a possibility, how about an M2 CS?

Very rare, great for road and track work, should retain their value very well.

The new M3 CS a bit over budget or would also have been a shout.

M3 Touring would probably be on my list.

So much choice at that price point, especially if something the size of a 911 is sufficient practicality.

I bought a new Dark Horse back in July to keep on the drive and use as a daily.
2000 miles later it still ticks the boxes.
Haven’t seen another one as yet.
Rear seats are small and probably use is more limited by the front seats ( mine has Recaros ) but still larger than say the 911’s.
3 year 3 services plan was £672.
