DIY paint car subframe
Discussion
I’m in the process of having my cars subframe shot blasted and I’m struggling to find a reliable powder coating service near me. The car needs to be back on the road soon so I thought I could DIY paint it that should be get a couple of years protection if that’s even possible.
What tins of spray paint would be suitable? Any advice? Thanks.

i would go 2 part epoxy , thats where all the protection happens
then a top coat of your choice ....myself i would go satin 2k , but if you want the safer stuff rustoleum hard hat
Agree with the above. Epoxy primer and then a top coat of what ever you fancy. Bilt hamber do an epoxy mastic which is good for hand painting on a chassis, but any would be fine. then a top coat of your choice ....myself i would go satin 2k , but if you want the safer stuff rustoleum hard hat
If you’ve had it shot blasted the rust should be removed so you dont need any fancy rust inhibitor treatments as there isn’t any rust that needs treating.
Really you need to use 2 part Epoxy on bare metal, but you cant do that with rattle cans as its 2 pack, it needs spraying or could be brushed, but once mixed together you have to bin what you dont use. Once thats on you can use anything you want on top.
Worst case, you can use a DTM (direct to metal) product, again the 2 pack variety is best, but can also you get 1k which is great for as you say ‘a couple of years’, its generically called ‘skip paint’.
Gold standard is 2K Epoxy primer then a 2K coloured top coat.
