Anyone got any experience with these? I've always liked the styling and I'm thinking they're likely to be as reliable as any other Honda...

Oddball, quirky thing. No doubt peerlessly reliable. No direct experience but an individual bike for individual tastes. If I'm honest, it's not my thing at all, but if you fancy one then you won't go wrong I'm sure....

I am not sure I heard about them.

I had a senior moment a few months ago and thought the MCN owners' reviews had disappeared. Check and google model and reviews.

Are they cheaper than V-Maxes?

Bit cheaper than the 1200. The 1700 has absolutely run away price wise.

I always preferred the Suzuki GSX1400 from around the same time. But not through any experience.

Didn't even know this existed.

Not a huge help, but my dad owned a regular CB1300 for the last 12 years and given it regular use, only problem has been the radiator springing a leak.

Very kind of you, sir. I'm about an hour away so if it's somewhere you're likely to pass, could you? They don't come up very often and I'm annoyed at the Guzzi at the moment!

Have no experience of those, but have a 2003 Honda Hornet 900. As you say, Hondas of that age are very well built and reliable, but they are getting difficult to get parts for now. Obviously service parts are OK buts things like plastics, fuel tanks, etc are now difficult and I would expect an X4 to be even harder being import only. Doesn't mean you shouldn't do it but if when you look at it there are parts that need replacing, especially if cosmetic, then make sure you can get them and cost them up before committing.

Wise words. That's something I'm finding the my current bike. It's rare, 13 years old and Italian. Parts are like hen's teeth and stupid expensive.

These were popular in Japan when I lived there as the cb1300 was a bit tall for a lot of Japanese riders

Foundation of many B?s?zoku.

They only rode 250 s or 400s when I was there - had a few run ins with them in Tokyo
