YouTube slow to load

Not sure if this is the right place and I couldn’t find it under the search facility to put this anyhow over the past few days YouTube has been slow to load. It used to be relatively instantaneous. I’m on the premium pack so not ad related. Has anyone else experienced this??

It’s the tv app via Sky

Rebooting the Sky box fixed it.

YouTube seems to have become a RAM eating monster of late, it's possible that your Sky box or smart TV is just running out of memory. Try resorting whatever you're using and see if that makes a difference.

I've had quite a few glitches in YT over the last half year or so. Before that, it was pretty much solid. The service seems to be getting a bit degraded .. possibly cost cutting.

I'm intermittently getting 5-20 second pauses at the start as if it's buffering, but I'm on 900mbps Fibre so it's not me or my stuff, so it's likely YT messing about with their backroom things yet again, being as intermittent as it is.

If you're using ad-blockers, then it's probably a result of the ever-changing tactics/techniques/workarounds between them and Youtube.

A few videos completely refuse to load if I have mine on (Ghostery), others will play for 5 seconds and then stall indefinitely (even if I refresh the page), and some longer ones will stutter whilst Youtube tries to insert a mid-stream advert...but ~95% seem to work fine.

Mine's on a 1000/100 connection.

When I had these (before I signed up for Premium), normally restarting the browser fixed it as it seemed to be YT adding stuff to thwart ad blockers.

I run ublock and it’s laggy, but plays fine once going.

It’s snappier with ads on, but they’re getting horrible these days.

Plus I want to block all the tracking and profiling as much as I can sooo.


But yes it’s definitely past its best. It’s on the down slope of the bell curve and into full on ensttification.
