Anyone been down this route.

We need to use a small ish SUV. Had a Forester, now an Ateca. Nice cars. The Forester sucked petrol like nobodies business BUT it could tow 2 ton easy....which we needed it to do a while ago but that need went...so we bought the Ateca. The 1.4 tsi returns approx 40 mpg, can tow up to 1 ton...which is more than enough...(we still need about 500kg towing capacity). We had petrol due to lots of short trips.

We have solar. 5.6kW. Export limited to 3.6kWh. BG for L use, 15.1p SEG.

We do about 5/6000 miles a year, the vast majority of which are under 50 miles. We also have a summer sports car thats tucked away for the winter.

Is it time to buy an EV? Thought of a PHEV....but????

Dont wish to go smaller than the Kona or Niro.

Thoughts??

That'll be dictated by how much you want to spend, the EV Kona isn't rated to tow.

If your usage suits an EV then I'd consider it as well as a PHEV.

I have started to bin the Kona due to the towing problem and its smaller than the Niro and quite a bit more than the Ateca. Then theres the Enyaq...! Bigger than the Ateca.

Take a look at the CX-60 it's a hybrid they're a nice car & you can get a nice one for sensible money.

In which case take a look at the Genesis GV60, towing wise it ticks the boxes & you get the 77kwh battery too:

Kona Gen 2 EV is available with a factory option towing kit - think it’s rated to 750Kg.

Thanks both for the above. Kona is gone, too small i the boot dept.

Genesis....have seen them on a stand at Yank golf tournies etc but didnt connect in the EV world. Could be too posh/pricey compared to maybe a more robust Enyaq?

Plus the GV60 seems to moving away from the SUV ish look we prefer. Higher ass end for loading stuff, etc.
