I'm after some advice on my what my options are to expedite the fix or replacement of our Peugeot e308 which we got via one of the lease deals mentioned on this site back in Sept 2024.

In recent weeks the car has stubbornly refused to start, citing a "gearbox malfunction" which has necessitated calling RAC to come out and look at the car. Inevitably after 2 hours of being stranded when they turn up, the car springs back to life. Anyway this has happened twice, and then again this evening car was stranded at the station, RAC came along and after an hour of taking stuff apart and bypassing sensors managed to get it to start. They then followed us the couple miles home in case and provided a full write up we can give to Peugeot.

The problem we've had is that we've called Peugeot to get them to fix the car but the earliest they claim they can do diagnostics is May, and they won't provide a replacement car until the vehicle has been assessed. The RAC have told us out of hours issues will warrant them giving us a replacement vehicle for 3 days (which we are now trying to source from them) but longer term replacement needs to be provided by Peugeot. We've also called the lease company and contacted the broker (leasys) to tell them this car is tripe and has stranded us now 3 times. We have two very young kids and they were stuck in the train station this evening for two hours past their bedtime. The OH is most displeased.

I have had my fair share of second hand problematic cars but have always managed to find any mechanic to deal with them at short notice.

However this being an EV which is 1.5 years old and under warranty, it's proving very difficult to sort this promptly. We have booked the car in for a service Friday and I plan on dropping it off and not picking it up until they've guaranteed they've fixed the issue.

Lease ends on August 31st. This car is a lot of aggro. Do we have any options to force Peugeot to sort this out more promptly and/or reject the vehicle?

Thanks for any help...
