I have a picture (attached)of a locomotive that i wish to put onto a coffee mug. this has, on the right hand side, a portion of the left hand buffer cut off. I have used the clone tool to get ride of the locos in the background, but how do i manage to get the missing portion of the LH buffer.

IIRC i did ask this several years ago, and a listee did mange to do it for me. for whuch i am eternally grateful, but having gone back several years in my topics but cannot find the original correspondence.

Can anyone suggest the best way to sort this out, as i cannot see how to 'enlarge' the canvas to include a blank portion in which to do it.

This is precisely what AI is great at doing - removing background objects, generative filling and enhacing the image. Whether you consider this the 'orginal' image any more, and if it keeps in the original spirit of a 'photo'....thats up for debate.

Anyway - I managed this in a couple of minutes on my phone:

mcdonna.. WOW and that is with AI? .
If i wasnt building this loco in 5in gauge i would start looking into the good side of AI. ( how do you get started is there a dummies guide out?).. thanks for the effort. and also YourDad... That brought back some memories how many years has she been popping up in situations like this?.. made me chuckle Much appreciated both of you

Starting to look a bit AI now, but it shows what can be achieved in just a few minutes

Building it in 5" gauge?

Actually, a good example of the limits of AI. It's added a large wheel and the coupling rods have gone mental..
