Hi All - sorry to keep asking things!

So I've changed over the radio surround to a nice new stainless steel one. However, I came to refit the radio and it's too big and doesn't hold the radio cage. I then checked the old one and that was also too big...so the old radio must have been loose.

Has anyone had the same issue? I've looked around for a plastic mounting/fitting piece and dynamic sounds etc have many different ones...

Has anyone bought one that works and is the correct side to fit the radio snugly?

Thanks,
J.

I have changed the radio out - for a standard single DIN unit, which of course came with its own cage.
It fits fine, but recognise that the only fixing area is the mouth at the front - the fibreglass frame behind the front panel - so you need to bend the tabs to grab as well as you can. I found that once I'd got the radio unit in, and the plastic surround, it all sits firmly enough.

Things might be different in your car of course.

This is a photo of mine, which is probably what you're looking at.

The cage fits in to the fibreglass behind rather than the stainless panel. Once the radio is fitted the surround that clips on to the cage should take up the gap between the radio and the aperture in the stainless.

Yes, sorry I wasn't clear, that's basically what I meant.
It's not a very clean fit, but it does work.

I've had stereo cages in and out of several Chimaera and a Griff. In all cars, this was the case, all of them had the standard DIN.

You may have to bend in the slightly further back tabs to hold it on the GF body, not the dash trim, as mentioned above. smile
