Having just sold my SV650s, I now have no need to use the excellent sv650.org forum.

I am seriously thinking about a GSXR-600 now, and would like to speak to some people that know a lot more than me about them, and what to look out for when buying privately.

So does anyone know a good UK based forum for GSXR's?

Or is there anyone on here that can help me with some pointers on things to check?

Thanks

chilli

www.socweb.com (I think - its the Suzuki Owners Club)

www.visordown.com - not Suzuki but lots of knowledgeable people on there.

GixerCrew is a good website (Chilli's link) and the people on there are nice and friendly. They also know an awful lot about the bikes so it is well worth joining up.

I had a problem with my bike that a dealer couldn't resolve but by putting a post up on the forum I had an answer for me within a day that worked and my problem was resolved. (The problem had been ongoing for 2 months!)

Hello mate. Last year I was racing with the bloke who started Gixercrew. Overall, they're a great bunch and have a LOT of knowledge when it comes to gixers.

I switched from an SV to a K1 600 about 3 years ago now so if there's anything I can help with, gimme a shout.

Definately recommend GixerCrew on msn groups.. whilst the forum interface is pants (which you can just about live with) the ppl and their knowledge and content are excellent.

I used to use it regularly before some kind person half-inched my gixxer6.
Sadly I have found no really useful equivalent for old model R6 owners of which I now am.

I have had the same problem - joined forum but not had anything through from them yet. I will try and contact moderator and see if I can get on. If I have any luck I will let you know.

I took the advice I got from a couple of forums, and went to see bike yesterday, and have ended up buying a Black/Orange, Suzuki GSXR600 K4, with seat cowl, race can, suzuki hugger, 850 miles on clock - all originals, receipts for all parts and has 14 months Suzuki warranty remaining. Is absolutely immaculate - took a mate that knows a bit more than me and we had the fairings off, and looked at "stuff" that I don't really understand. But basically is very clean.

However after checking everything was ok, and all paperwork was in order, something strange happened on the way home. On the way home after about 70 miles I noticed that the back right indicator had stopped working, by the time I got home both back indicators had stopped working! Not good. Checked and bulbs had blown in both rear indicators. Apart from this, rode the bike back 180 miles and it runs like a dream.

There is something else I need to add to this for info, when checking over the bike I noticed that numberplate light was not working, but guy selling showed me that it was because with the replacement number plate holder the light does not "look that great", and he does not use bike at night. Naive Fats believed this! I then plugged the numberplate light in and travelled on my way.

Please bear in mind that my mechanical knowledge is very sparse!

My questions are as follows :-

1) What bulbs should be in the rear indicators? The blown bulb I have taken out is "Stanley 12V 18W" bulb. Is this correct?

2) Any ideas what else to look for and try? (obviously I will get the replacement bulbs first and see what happens).

3) Anyone have any idea what needs to be done with regards to transferring the Suzuki warranty? Or is the warranty tied to the bike with no need to notify anyone?

4) Do you think I have bought a lemon!? I do hope not - everything else seems in such good order.
