Gt3 buying advice 992.1 or 992.2
Discussion
Found myself in the fortunate position to buy a new to me used Gt3
Over the weekend I’ve been mulling over a circa 1500 mile .1 (24my) in the low £160ks mark it seems it has been on sale at the opc since jan
It has steel brakes instead of ceramics is this a deal breaker ? And on resale is this the reason it’s sat forsale for so long ?
Would I be better stretching the budget to a car with ceramics ? And should I stay away from 22/23 plate cars between 7-13k miles ?
What’s the big differences between .1 & .2 ? I love the .2 with the weissach pack and the new buckets look awesome but it’s a little over my budget

Apparently fold buckets are uncomfortable compared to 918 seats , no worry on steel if going to track , 85% of EU cars are steel . Little difference between 1 and 2 besides lots of unnecessary electronics to switch off every time you get in the car
Thanks for the reply, I’ve heard that they are uncomfortable but sat in a touring.2 with them and honestly they do feel a bit far forward so maybe will be uncomfortable. Was worried that steel brakes might not be the the “in” thing if and when I come to sell it again.
I have a .2 and had loads of GT cars with the 918 buckets. I can’t find any real difference in comfort between the two. I’m 6’ and relatively slim, if that makes a difference. It is nice that the .2 seats are heated though. A sign of my age, no doubt…
Main difference’s between .1 and .2 are the shorter gearing and the suspension revisions that make the .2 more compliant.
If you’re planning to mainly do touring in the car, then I can say the .2 gearing is very short….
I think .1 gearing and .2 suspension set up would be a sweet spot. You can have the S/T damper tuning added to a .1 car though, which would go some of the way to making that combo a reality.
I chose steels because I track the car, and had PCCB’s on the last two cars I had before this one. I’m amongst a small few that prefer the textural feel of steels and find them easier to modulate.
But honestly can’t go wrong with 991.2 or either 992. It’s really the drivetrain that is the USP of these cars, and as said above, it’s the same unit in all three.
Happy shopping!

Thanks Jack, didn’t consider the 991, have been looking at the 991 gt3 rs and wonder if that’s a good option instead but unsure
