GP prescribed me Ozempic for type 2 diabetes control. Have been on Glicazide for about 5 years ( after first trying Metformin which I could not get along with ). Am loath to start the injections after reading some of the side effects especially as I enjoy a few pints 2/3 nights a week. Don't think I can inject myself either ( coward I know ) . Anyone any experience of this drug and it's side effects etc ? I am not particulary overweight ( 6ft 1 , 15 stone ) but cannot exercise as have spine issues which very much limits my walking etc.
Any experiences of this drug appreciated.
Thanks.

There is a very long running thread with loads of info here https://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&...

However, for a few quick answers.

It has massively changed my life and I haven't really had any side effects. I am now on the other side, tapering down the doses until I come off it. It helped me to lose 3 and a bit stone.

I am also a wimp, my wife has to inject me smile

I live on my own - unless the cat will inject me. Thanks for the reply.

I was on Mounjaro 2.5mg for 4 months with no side effects. I don't like needles, but couldn't feel a thing.

It's likely you might feel less inclined to drink when you are taking it. The needle is so small, and fine, it's really not a thing, you don't have to look at it when you inject - my wife hates needles, but has no issue with doing it. She has had no real side effects on any dose.

The longterm benefits of not being type 2, well outweigh any of these very small negatives.

I was prescribed it for type 2 as well. Changed to semaglutide tablets as I couldn't cope with the constant vomiting and diarrhea. Stopped taking them as I couldn't cope with the constant vomiting and diarrhea. About to change to Rybelsus tablets soon.

At the end of the day, your doctor has prescribed it to you for a reason.

Every single drug has possible side effects, just that medical science tells us what is a worthwhile trade, and as per the answers you've had many people don't notice any sides at all.

Overall, people who need them are living longer, healthier lives with GLP-1 drugs.

Thanks for the replies. Still a bit wary of the injection, however the medication came wrapped in a plastic bag which I opened this morning only to read a label inside that it should have been kept in the fridge. I received it on 17/3/26 even though the surgery knew I wouldn't be taking it until now due to having an endoscopy last week. I therefore just left the medicine on the bedroom cabinet without opening the package. Have booked an appointment with the pharmacist at the surgery as even if I pluck up the courage to inject myself I am not sure it will work now......... Apologies for the thread, I am just very nervous of the NHS at times having been misdiagnosed (or not diagnosed at all ) for various conditions over the years and also been very ill when I have taken new drugs prescribed.
