Insurance / driver details UK to EU ?
Discussion
Not sure if anyone can advise - A few months ago I was driving my NL registered LHD car in the UK and someone collided with me and failed to stop.
I believe I correctly noted the other car number plate and called the police, who advised that as nobody was injured and the road was not blocked - to report the incident online - which I did.
My NL insurance company have advised that since Brexit it is harder to get insurance / driver details from the UK and if no details are provided the accident will be recorded against me.
I have chased the UK police force concerned who simply send an automated response that they will only contact me if more information is required otherwise the case will be closed after six months.
Does anyone have any experience of the possibility of my insurance company obtaining any details ?

Details should be able to be obtained from the MID (Motor Insurance Database) via this link: https://www.mib.org.uk/check-insurance-details/che...
With a UK insurer, they would use their own access to the MID, but I suspect your NL insurer won't have access so it may be simpler for you to do this yourself.

Had a look but it seems I have to enter my details also and the site only allows for a valid UK number plate.

There's a drop-down list titled "your involvement in incident", and if you select pedestrian, cyclist, property owner or passenger, the "your registration number" box is greyed out and you can get the details without inputting your reg.Had a look but it seems I have to enter my details also and the site only allows for a valid UK number plate.

I'd be cautious about inputting someone else's reg, as I wouldn't put it past the MIB to notify whoever is insuring that vehicle that it has been reported as having been in an accident.
