Mrs L's 20 reg Captur is OK, but keeps having silly electrical fits - typical, I suppose, of a relatively cheap car trying to be too sophisticated/clever.

My thoughts turned to something a bit older with fewer things to go wrong, and the decent value that the F34 seems to be at present. Even better, potentially, if one was sourced from Japan.

As part of my due diligence (ie spending ages rummaging through motoring websites) I looked at the Honest John figures for mpg, in particular for the 2.0 petrol engine as Mrs L doesn't need a diesel, plus I find the 2.0 version a bit clattery.

The reported figures for the 2.0 petrol automatic - 26.9mpg! My 645ci could manage that.

For those PHers who have run F34s, does that tally with your experience?

Maybe it's the lack of submissions that is making it seem very low...and I can't see how many submissions each specific model has, so maybe the few who have submitted are doing very short mileages around town...or have clicked the wrong option in the 'type of driving'?

It seems counter-intuitive that the heavier automatic xDrive version to get 10% better fuel economy than the non-xDrive auto (as per the table).

It seems quite accurate for my 335xD (maybe a bit lower than I'm actually getting), but I've submitted my average to hopefully raise it a little. The tables show 35.5/36.2mpg respectively for the F30/F31 2.0 petrol auto...which is 20% better than for the F34 (is it that much heavier or less aerodynamic?).
