Simple question really, do you think King Charles should be visiting the US?

Yes, but he should have a few public digs at Trump.

We need to play the long game, Trump will be gone one way or the other in a few years. Insulting America won't help us in the long term.

Voted yes.

Royalty is a really useful diplomatic tool to deploy against trump. The UK has to think tactically and strategically, so a Royal visit may reduce some of trumps anti-UK nonsense in the short term, whilst maintaining some relationships with the USA public that may last longer-term and leave us in a better place when trump shuffles on. It's easy and tempting to cancel the tour as a FU to trump, but that will just accelerate and spoil any long-term relationship with one of our most important trading countries.

Any silliness from trump during the visit will only reflect badly on him, the King/Queen will just have to grit their teeth and work through it until they're on the royal aeroplane home. Charles/Camilla had experience of this on home turf, so they have some knowledge of what to expect on the away leg.

trying to use diplomacy wTth Trump would be akin to using diplomacy with a Pig.

You won't get anything and your nostrils will be full of the smell of pigst.

Ive already penned the post visit social media release.

"We had a very special guest recently, a great man, King Charles. He came to the United States—and he was very impressed. He looked at the buildings, he looked at the crowds, and he said, 'Donald, it’s incredible what you’ve done.' And he’s a King, he knows about real estate, he knows about palaces, but he’s never seen anything like what we have here.
It was a very beautiful visit, very elegant. We had the best everything. You know, the Fake News won't tell you, but the chemistry was fantastic. We get along very well. He’s doing a tough job, a very big job, but he saw the energy in this country and he was blown away.
And then you look at their Prime Minister, Keir Starmer. Very weak, very boring. They call him 'Two-Tier Keir,' you know? He’s a low-energy guy, very low energy. He’s probably jealous because the King and I had such a magnificent time while he’s back there making a total mess of things. We love the UK, we love the royals—nobody respects the throne more than I do—and having the King here was a big, beautiful win for the world!"

That's probably going to turn out to be eerily accurate.

Yup, Charles should go. This is where an unelected-performing-monkey head of state really pays off.

We have a someone to send who can generally suck up to America without politically supporting their actions. We can can have our cake and eat it. The fact that Trump seems to love monarchy stuff makes it even better.

We are 100% right to take that win.

I don't think it insults America. The ones that aren't so dumb probably want someone to push back and say no to him. He's a dictator leading them down a very steep slippery slope.

What a load of guff. Two state visits to UK haven't made the blindest bit of difference to Trump's regular mud-slinging.

Hard to disagree with, but can you imagine the toys thrown out of the pram if the visit is cancelled? 700% tariffs on everything, and a demand to take over the Isle of Wight.

Exactly. I think it's a good idea to go and make the best of a really bad situation. Who knows what he would do if we dont keep in his good books. It's better than actually joining in with his stupid war.

Should send prince andrew in his place then revoke his passport so he can’t return.

Yes, solely because to cancel it now will cause far more negative than positive. If it was going to be withdrawn it should have been a few months ago when people first started asking for it.

I voted yes.

I think Trump has a healthy respect for certain people, including King Charles. I also think he acts unilaterally based on whomever spoke to him last, as long as the respect is there and there is some perceived benefit for Trump personally.

(Remember Starmer's visit last year seemed to be positively received in the UKs favour, although maybe not so much now).

So a well crafted whisper in Trump's ear may initiate some positive action in the short term. And the king is not stupid in these diplomatic situations......

Of course he has to visit. Trump is eager to be royalty and the King will hand him some sort of certificate of kingness.
Once Trump finally goes,I dont see the UK monarchy lasting must longer.
So maybe he shouldnt go actually.

Not accurate, Charles will have tears in his eyes as he speaks, maybe even call trump "Sir".

Not a chance. That orange idiot has mocked the UK mercilessly and for me he can take his red hat and fk right off.

He doesn't deserve the privilege and prestige of the visit.

Trump's America is a cesspit riddled with disease.
