Sorting this Slot Drain

Our garage drain has been blocked up since we moved here 17 years ago. Driveway is on a slope, so tends to flood the front of the garage in periods of heavy rain. Never been a disaster, so just left it all that time.

Thinking it might only be about 6” deep, I thought I could replace this stupid system with something easier to keep clean.

But after a good dig, the damn thing looks like it’s 300mm deep and as it’s 4.6m long, I’ve bitten off more than etc





There’s a drain cover at the far end and one on the drive. Is this even going to be possible for the Pros’ to clean out, or is it a replacement job?

You get access from the end, there'll be a big round hole through the middle of those blocks.

If there isn't an access cover at one end (because someone didn't think ahead) you'll have to dig.

Cleaning it should be trivial after that.

Only question is where does it drain to, you might need to excavate the soakaway if that's full of crap.

Thanks for that - there is a drain cover at the end, so I’ll see about getting that open and have a look.
