Morning all, I'm booked on the Portsmouth -Santander ferry tomorrow night, coming home from Caen next Saturday morning. Initial plan was to head to Jaca, follow the N260 for a couple of days & then head north though Carcassonne, Gorge du Tarn, Puy de Dome to Caen.

This route looks wet for the entire week but around Zaragoza looks dry for a few days so we'll base ourselves there & have a few rides out before starting to make our way north Weds Pm. Any suggestions on good riding routes around there?

We are on road bikes with road tyres, so not looking to head into Bardenas Reales. Cheers.

That's a bummer as your route would have been great fun! I don't know how flexible you are and I've not looked at the weather but another option would be to ride along the Picos and drop into northern Portugal.

IMO the roads are far nicer than the area around Zaragoza and every bit as good at the roads around Jaca and it's easily doable in your time frame. Also keep an eye on the weather as in that region it's very changeable. The forecast can very much a blanket for the whole area which you might be able to dodge.

A couple of mates are riding through there at moment and have hit some big storms but missed others.

Safe travels!

Thanks Andy, weather is pretty poor there too. I did Santander to Porto over 5 days in '24 which was fab. Just booked an apartment near Zaragoza for a couple of nights. Hopefully it picks up midweek & we can get over the Pyrenees without getting soaked. I am very much a fair weather rider!

Sounds like a good plan. Might be worth paying for a weeks subscription to Calimoto as we've found they generally have some good ride outs for most areas.

Hope the weather picks up before we set off in a few weeks as like you, I'm not a huge fan of touring in the rain either!
