Is it just me, or is anyone else concerned by the prevalence of this type of ad on PH? I spotted this after posting on another forum:

While I don't have a problem with companies looking for business, I do have a problem being told that they have found two cases where I may be eligible for a payout. Why is that a problem? Because I've never had car finance in my life, so it can't possibly be true.

Part of me is tempted to contact them and ask for the details they think they hold about me, but I don't want to risk entering a downward spiral of spam or hacking. There will surely be others who will.

Come on, PH, stop allowing this sort of fluff on your website.

Devils Advocate. They aren't saying they have two claims for you. They are saying they might find 2 claims for anyone who financed a car between 2007 and 2024.

If they are paying Pistonheads to run easily ignored adverts go for it.

Fair enough, but it's obviously designed to draw in the unwary by the use of "your name". Like I said, I'm not going to click on it but there'll be those who will.

There's still people that don't use ad-blockers?

I was going to say that but thought Pistonheads Management might disapprove.

Also fair, but I was on a work-controlled laptop. You know, the one I was supposed to be using for work purposes rather than browsing motoring websites.
