Anyone on here using this?

I am trying to get through to someone...cannot even access the chat bot!! re a problem

Want to transfer money to my grandsons account tried my debit card and fill in the details and it accepted 1.00 ok ( this was the 'test transaction'

Then went to put 44.00 in and fill in details as before, and now it tells me 'something went wrong please try again'....It looks like it might be the postcode as there are dots only in that box and then tried variants..... all caps and lower case each with and without a space....Now it says 'card declined.only debit cards accepted'..

But what is bugging me is the help line which i think was designed by mongo

the best bit is.. it announces if you want to speak to someother other that customer support pres 1 for fraud and 2 for bereavement etc.. you do nothing and the message repeats.. at the fourth time of asking i press 1 and get
This is custmoer support we cannot transfer you to other depts....good i thought

THEN it tells me to send in an email and cuts off

no chance of chattting to anything at all

Rant over and breathe deep

Why are you using debit card details to transfer money to an account?

Normal process is a Bank Transfer. Select
the account you want to send it from, then enter the account number and sort code of the account you want to send it to.

No debit card involved.

And what’s a postcode got to do with it?

The issue is he can't get through to the bank, therefore added to my avoid list, thanks OP!

He has 2 x issues.

1. Incorrectly trying to make a debit card payment rather than a Bank Transfer to a family member.

2. Monzo, according to the OP doesn’t have good / direct human customer service.

here is a pic of the monzo screen..

Note it says we only accept debit cards

but it DID accept my transfer of £1.00 from my bank card but declines a paynent of 44.00 minutes later

The Monzo account is our Grandsons. we do not have a monzo account..
So WHY did it acceptt the intial payment and refuse the second?

And this also happened with my wifes card accepts the £1.00 declines further payment

And i gave up trying to talk to someone when you try and use the customer support telenumber

The £1 “test transaction”, followed by a larger payment attempt has probably caused their fraud system to kick in and block the second transaction. At a human level the “test” seems reasonable but what you’ve done follows a pattern that looks dodgy to banks.

Can’t you just transfer the money from your account to his, using his account number / sort code? Would seem much easier.

Your doing it all wrong that is why!

If you want to transfer money to your grandsons account, go into YOUR banking app press transfer money and fill in his name, account number and sort code. Easy.

You are doing it the hard way. And the inital £1 has probably tiggered anti fraud on either your account or his now.

Ham your link is for moving funds from monzo we want to put some in.

LooneyTunes Hmmm but would the receiving bank consider two inputs dodgy?

The situation is

Two grandkids both with monzo accounts

No 1 had the 1.00 test input some time ago and yesterday Mrs Fox transferred 45.00 to them no problem

No 2 The transfer was rejected for the full amount ( same debit card used)
My lad suggested trying the 1.00 which went through ok and then the 44.00 was rejected on both our debit cards

Craig On filling out the form.. (see pic( you will see that email and our address is required and on inputing that an error message came up .and to correct it. All other boxes were clear but the postcode one had ..... underneath our input
i then tried the four variants of input xx11 1xx, xx111xx, XX11 1XX and XX111XX all four giving the same result.
Then tried customer support and the Ai bot or whatever didnt have a item to tick to take this forward, so got onto the telenumber
Tried two with the same result 0800 088 4040 and 0800 8021281 It is worth listening to.. esp if you do not want customer support press 1 or 2 and the message repeats and repeats ad infinitum nothing to say you are on hold or in a queue or hold musak at all just the message repeating

As has been said, just go into your own banking app and pay him from there. No need for debit cards, postcodes etc.

I've got a Monzo account and their support is generally excellent

But you access it via the app.

As others have said - just transfer the money by accessing your bank in the usual way.

Also as a general point the old "send a quid to check the account" isn't necessary anymore as the bank details are checked when you add a new payee.

If there’s a fraud block, it’s not their bank blocking it, it’s yours (thinking that someone is testing whether details work before quickly trying to use them for larger sums).

May I give you a clue . . .

BANK Holiday ?

I appreciate that doesn’t really help, but yes normally a Bank Transfer would be easier?

My link was an example using the Monzo account.

The point being, to transfer to another account you use your own bank account and transfer the funds by sort code and account number of the recipient.

It’s the same procedure regardless of who you bank with.

As I said above literally just go into your own banking app or even website and send the money from there, no need to be doing it this long winded way.
