New Alloy Wheels

I am currently looking for non standard alloy wheels for my Chimaera 400
However finding wheels with the right fitment is a real problem can anyone help or point be in the direction of someone who can help!

In my humble opinion using the more standard 25 and 35 ofsets that you can get "off the shelf" isn't going make much odds. As long as you are using the same width wheels so you're not messing about with the backspace, the difference between a 26 or a 25 or a 33 or a 35 ofset is pretty much negated by tyre wear I reckon.

[EDIT: by fitment do you mean the stud pattern.? Its standard "old" ford. 108x4 (also found on some Citroen/Pugeots eg Saxo/106)]

i have 17 inchers,got from ebay(new from alloy supplier),went for 25 et all round as difficult to get different et front and rear unless you pay a lot more.fitted ok and in my opinion look good!!rob

What size wheels have you gone for? The problem I've found is that those wheels that have the right (or acceptable) offset and 4 stud/108PCD are all 7" or 7.5". I think the rear needs 8" or 8.5" to cope with 235 or wider at the lower profile.

Depends what size you are looking for? i run 17" x 7.5 wide. tires on the front are 205x40x17 and rears 225x45x17 which (so i beleive) are as close as possible to the sandard rolling radius of the standard 15" and 16" wheel tire combo.
when looking into this you need to make sure the rear wheels are at least 7.5 to take a 225 width tire or larger. any less an it will look like your running the space saver!

does any one now know the going rate for he standard wheels? mine are in the shed! dont know weather to hang onto them for when i sell the car as i think ill have more chance of selling it with standard wheels. aftermarket wheels are not everyones choice.

Let me know what you think, only went on at the weekend. I wont tell you how much they have cost me, you'll all hate me!

They are TSW fusions, not an expensive Alloy, but unfortunately no longer produced. you might get some on e-bay or by doing some hunting round to suppliers for old stock.

A lad at work bought a bit of a "chav" Escort for his first car. Whoever owned it before him had put the wheels on with no idea at all. They were the totally wrong size and offset for the Escort. Luckily they were spot on for the Chimaera. When he told me a couple of months ago he was selling the car I told him id buy the alloys off him. £50 later they were in my garage. I used the 205/40's which were in good condition on 2 of the wheels, but had to buy 2 225/45's to fit the rear of mine.

5 spokes are nice, and most of my favourite wheels are 5 spokes, they are a little old school though now and besides the chim standard 5 spokes i think your hard pushed to find a 5 spoke which suits the car.

Favourite of all time have to be RL7's in black or grey. There is a guy on here called Neil (can't remember his username) who has them on his chim. Stunning
