2017 Honda Civic 1.0 Alternator removal
Discussion
Hi Folks,
I have issues with the charging system. Battery tested OK, Occasionally I get the red battery symbol on the dash. I was going to take it to a mechanic to check, the light was gone and the car was driving perfectly. I told this to the mechanic and he suggested could be to the with the alternator bushes or brushes.
I want to inspect these. Has anyone worked on this generation of Civic?
There is this large plastic box in front of the engine, which if removed, would make life a lot easier.

Only to service them, never had to swap out an alternator.
The 'plastic box' is part of the inlet manifold, you don't want to be removing that in a hurry!
You may find you need to access it from below, or from the side; removing the undertray and the OSF wheel arch shield will give you a better view of the available space to undo the fastenings & wiring, and to then extract it.
