Birthday approaching soon, and thinking of trying VR - even though I'm 100% sure it will make me feel sick.

PSVR 2 seems to get good reviews - but do people find it's worth having? Particularly if you wear glasses.

One slightly odd thing that's making me hesitate is that Amazon don't seem to have any, and haven't had for the few weeks I've been looking. They have "refurbished" - but I can't see any new and they don't even have "out of stock, expected...." type listings.
Curry's etc. list it - but I would have preferred Amazon in case I decide it was in fact a waste of money.

I couldn t go back to flat screen after psvr2.

However I can t give you any insight into Psvr2 versus any other platforms as I have only used the PlayStation.

I really enjoy the format and only one game , Aces of thunder, made me a bit queasy and that was only for a few seconds on the first try.

Gran Turismo is absolutely fantastic in VR.

It's great but there's really not many games which support it and Sony seem to have forgotten about VR now.

GT7 is just awesome, you'll never go back to playing non-VR again. RE4 remake in VR was too scary for me boxedin

Yeah, that is something that I'm concerned about. I have browsed VR games and there are definitely some that interest me - but I wouldn't want to play them all and since it's a minority of games I think it will be limited use.
I do play No Mans Sky though so it would be good for that.

Although I've tried them a few times, I just don't like driving games. I even bought a (relatively cheap) wheel / pedal set and seat years ago - used it about 4 times then decided I still didn't like driving games.

Worth mentioning you can also use PSVR2 on PC with an adapter.

I have a PSVR2 and a Pimax crystal light for my PC and was a very early adopter of VR, so I have owned four or five different models over the years.

All I would say is that the novelty can wear off quite quickly. That will depend a lot on your age, how much time you can dedicate to it etc. Even today, if I fancy a quick blast of GT7, even though I have a racing seat / wheel and VR, I still often just play via an OLED TV screen. That's despite it being really rather easy to use VR on the PS5 / PS5 Pro. There tends to be more involved setup wise, especially if you want the best image quality on a PC. Ok if you know what you are doing, a bit frustrating if new to all this.

There's also no getting away from the fact that whilst the PSVR is great, it can't compare to the pin sharp visuals of something like the Pimax on a PC.
Then again, how fussy are you ? My first VR headset wasn't anywhere near as good as what I have now, but I was still blown away. I would compare it to my first projector vs my current 4K one. I never once paid much attention to the image which, at the time, probably looked like it was being fed from VHS. I was just impressed with a huge image appearing on a screen just as I was with my first VR experience and the fact I could bat a VR balloon around.

I tend to go down the "Oh well, if I don't like it, I can always sell it" route these days. Long time dead and all that and VR was something I could only dream of as a kid.

I say go for it.

I'm in a weird place with VR.

I've played cockpit games (Elite Dangerous, few racing games) and they're amazing. It's pretty much impossible to go back to flat screen after that - however they do feel 'exhausting' to use. Weight of the headset, glasses suckered to your face, the 'brain haze' you get.

Then you've got games like HL:Alyx. Playing that was like the first time I played Doom, or original Half Life, or use a 3D graphics card. Felt like the absolutely next step in games. I can't even compare it to other games as it's just on a completely different level of incredible.

For PSVR, I think it's only really worth it if you've got a chunkly PC you can use as well to play some of the titles offered there - and at least there are games that have mods, and more racing/flight options too.

I don't play games on a pc, and have no interest in doing so.

If Amazon had some, I think I'd order because I can always return. So maybe I'll wait until they do.

Check out CEX for a PS VR2 to buy.
5 year warranty now, cheaper than Amazon, and if you don't like it you can return it (or use it for a bit, and sell it back to them)

For me, absolutely. But I play GT7 almost exclusively (about 2500hrs since release) and have a wheel and pedal combo.

I was slightly motion sick the first few times I played it, but by slowly building up tolerance and using a small fan, I can play for as long as I like nowadays.
