Morning all.
OH has nicely let on that she thinks she may have been caught by the bd A19 mobile camera vans multiple times this week…… FFS.

I believe fixed cameras can show up on the Tesla now, but is there any overlay / patch / means to also have the car software tuned in tot he likes of waze and mobile cameras?
I know the alternate is Waze on the phone, but the likelihood of her remembering all the time - is slim.

(Also I ‘ think the phone even BT’d to the car will give audible alerts over the speakers wiill it ?

Always seen the downsides of Tesla being lack of CarPlay - mostly for Waze, I have it on even when I know where I'm going.

I know it's not a reliable system, but doesn't Tesla read speed signs and alert if exceeding them?

Oh yes - it does - but….

And to be fair it’s a stretch of the Dual carriage A19 we live near and use a lot- the Mobile vans are the buggers as opposed to the towns / 30mph pieces of road

Does Waze kick in / play over the radio for example when approaching a cameraman to inform ?

I use Waze almost every time I use the car. I would not rely on it at faster speeds, I think the notification distance is fixed, so at 60-70 mph around here you can almost always see the van by the time it notifies you, so I assume they can see me by then.

A19 south of Hartlepool is a nightmare for speed cameras. I don't even bother going over 75 anymore to be in the safe side.

Well, it’s obviously dependent on someone reporting it as being there. And supposedly the camera operators monitor it and try and cancel them.

Seen lots of Tesla drivers just use a phone mount and have waze on their phone.

CarPlay is in development and supposed to be coming soon to Teslas, they are just finalising the details so that navigation on CarPlay and tesla's own works together.

Around here the main issue is potholes, so I'm running Waze all the time for that. You can either put your phone on the charging pad with Waze running and the volume turned up or you can get phone mounts that go on the corner of the big screen.

There is a setting in the car so it reminds you if you walk away having left your phone on the charging pad.

Probably not of much help to you, but Waze sycs brilliantly in my BMW - get maps on both the central screen and in the dashboard and I have it set to loudly let me know of any camera's. Drops the volume of the radio and tells me loudly there's one coming up. I don't need to have input a destination, it's just running constantly as the default nav for the car.

What I m asking about does Waze kick in, is because I envisage the phone will be in the charging cradle. Not in the eye view to look at while driving along correctly.
So if approaching a speed camera will it interrupt whatever is on the radio etc to announce the speed camera coming up.

Not on mine, I would have to have it set to output bluetooth audio and only be listening to that without music I believe.

On the left side charging pad it's easy for a quick glance when looking at the main screen, as your arms don't block the screen like the right side pad but I have the volume on the phone set to maximum so you can hear it too.

There are already CarPlay adapters available that use the browser app to display CarPlay on the Tesla screen, but the official CarPlay app shouldn't be too much longer.

The disadvantage with the current browser CarPlay hack is it takes up all the left side of screen. I'd like my screen split into thirds - Tesla navigation, CarPlay and the car view all at the same time. But we will see how they do it.

Have you considered Radar bot? I've just come across it. Some reckon it's more accurate than Waze itself and apparently the alerts can come to your Apple watch too.

This is what I do - the Tesla nav is great for the charging network and then just use Waze to take you where Tesla suggests but also give you traffic/speed cameras. Decent phone mount on the screen makes it easy.
