This photo was found by a relative when clearing an ancestor's house, but we have no knowledge of who the people are, the regiment of location. I assume it's WW1?

Anyone able to advise a website etc that might be able to help please?

I've had a go at colourising it to see if it reveals any additional detail..

I'd suggest you try here. There are some real experts there who if you're lucky will help you -

https://www.greatwarforum.org/

As an aside have you got his WW1 army records from the national archives (you can get them online very easily) and these will show all the places he was posted to which you can use to find this place in your photo. However 50% or so were destroyed in WW2 in the blitz.

As above.

Cap badge looks like The Rifle Brigade.

You might get a better look at it when viewing the original photo.

Looking at the cap badge, I’d say they were Royal Engineers.

Enhancing the photo and zooming in on just one or two men, Gemini suggests The East Surrey Regiment, a line infantry regiment of the British Army that existed from 1881 until 1959. So probably WW1:

yes they do look like they are RE badges.

It's also been suggested on the The Great War forum that it could be at the RE training centre in Deganwy Wales

They all appear to be wearing different cap badges...
