Adobe Acrobat getting intrusive and naggy
Discussion
Anyone else noticed this? On my desktop I started noticing more and more I'd get asked to "sign in" to Adobe when simply viewing a PDF, then I started getting pop ups when printing a PDF trying to upsell me some kind of subscription. Then two days ago, on my laptop, I noticed a floating Adobe icon bottom right. I had to go into acrobat settings to disable it (some kind of, sigh, AI tool).
Today it came right back, so I uninstalled Acrobat. f

Will now look for an alternative if such a thing exists.

https://www.foxit.com/ is what I use. I've been using thevfree version for years now. The main reason was that it could handle large (100s of page) documents much faster then Adobe, but that may have changed now.
I never notice ant signin/nagging popups etc.

Cheers all, removed from my desktop also, and the Chrome plugin. And yes, they seem to open just fine in my Chrome browser without a plugin.
I'll look at foxit if the need for an external program arises. The main appeal of the app was that it opens the PDF outside the browser which can be helpful when I'm processing my orders (my mail order business - all orders are PDFs) and shipping labels.
Its so indicative of the times, that Acrobat has nagged and "intrusived" me to remove it. And, of course, I've been asked for feedback on why I've removed it (which I actually completed!)

Yeah - I just can't get over how heavy handed Adobe have become. From initial "offers" when reading a PDF, to then having permanent ads for their products on the corner of every PDF (then moving the zoom buttons - years of habit learnt clicking out the window) then getting actual pop ups stopping me in my tracks - to try and get me to subscribe - All I want to do is hit print and run, and then, finally, WTF is this floating duckign icon on my screen I can't remove?!!
Ciao Adobe.
Ciao Adobe.
I feel the same. I've used Adobe software for over a decade and it was always perfect for my needs. Recently though Adobe seems intent on self destruction with it's 'like it or lump it' attitude towards its users. So it's Bye bye' from me too. Thankfully now that I'm retired I can mostly live without it anyway so
