My wife's old E90 currently has Michelin Primacy 205/55 tyres, which are not run flats. She's does very low mileage (approx 3000 a year, comprised of 40-ish mile trips). The current set are starting to perish on the sidewalls - so I'd like to replace all four for safety.

I'm considering swapping them back out for run flats just for peace-of-mind, but may have forgotten how harsh the ride was given the crappy roads nowadays...

Any recommendations for decent, but reasonable cost tyres, given the low mileage they'll end up perishing long before the tread depth is used up?

Falken FK520s, Uniroyal RainSport 5s, Hankook Ventus Evo 3s, Goodyear Eagle F1s would be good choices

If you want all weathers and peace of mind for over winters etc; then Goodyerar Vector Gen3 4Season or Michelin CrossClimate 2s or 3s for all season tyres

Check Camskill for best prices; get them delivered and fitted locally - but check Asda Tyres and Halfords / National Tyres for their current offers too

Personally I'd still stay away from RFTs - they have got better, but they can still make the rider harsher and noisier

I agree

But if you're running 16 inch wheels or even 15 inch they will have less harshness.

But I'm not sure modern RFT are being produced in these older sizes. Most modern tyres seem to be 18 inch and bigger.

Those listed would be my among my choices. I have recently replaced my runflats with Hankook Ventus S1 Evo3 HRS runflats, and am pleased with their comfort level. I did contemplate non runflats, but I am pleased I chose these Hankooks.
