My current pc is a bit long in the tooth now for modern gaming sims that I am getting into....its a shuttle with athlon 2000 and 756mb ram and a Radeon 9600 - I am going to convert this into a media centre and file store and place it in the lounge. What should I replace it for ? Has to be gaming spec and also do all the mundain internet/email/cd burning etc, but no need for dvd and I am happy to build it myself and no need for a small case this time, but something more than a huge grey box. Budget would be about 400-500....for case,psu,mobo,ram,hd,cdr/dvdr,graphics card thats about all I would need, but I am not hot on the current processors and is is worth spending loads on a dual core, I just need something that would do the job for a year or two, like my shuttle has....

I'm about to buy something similar.

There is a £799 review in this months Computer Shopper. The Evesham 64 GT (or something like that) comes top of all the 3D games benchmarking.

I've asked for a quote just for the base unit, I guess it will be around £600.

From memory its AMD 3500, 512 RAM, top end graphics etc etc.
