Bendix Wheel Cylinder - Brake pipe nut size
Discussion
I though this sub-forum might get more traffic than French Bred, so here we go...
I am replacing the leaking wheel cylinder on my AX, and have the replacement part for the existing Bendix one (a Quinton Hazel BWC3467).
Predictably enough, it's going to need the brake line (3/16") cutting off as the nut is seized to the point of smearing and I don't want to re-use it.
Does anyone know the size of the replacement brake nut I'll need for the back of the wheel cylinder please? My measurements of the new parts so far suggest it might be a really odd size (7/16") which seems a US domestic fitment. Of course, as soon as I've managed to extract the blasted thing I can get a thread gauge on it and measure it, but ideally I'd order a new one before then so I can minimise the delay in getting it back on the road. It doesn't help I've misplaced my callipers and only have a metric thread gauge either.....
If anyone knows the answer, please do let me know as I've been scouring every AutoDoc/eBay/other supplier adverts for specifications and getting nowhere (only the piston diameter and securing bolt sizes are listed). As far as I can tell, the wheel cylinder is an AX/106/Saxo common part, but the motor factors don't have the brake pipe nuts in stock either - only the M10 x 1mm ones.
Many thanks.

It will be either M10x1 or M12x1.
Whilst that doesn't sound terribly helpful, you should be able to see from the attached pic that there's a world (OK, 2mm!) of difference between the two.
The clue should be in the size of spanner you originally used on the nut, if it was 10 or 11mm then its the M10, if it was 12 or 13mm then it will be M12.

Thanks very much for your response and taking time to post the picture - very helpful!
It’s not the M10 (they are the size connecting the other end of the kunifer pipe to the flexible one over the axle). I have found a factors not too far away as well that has M12x1mm in stock too, so I’ll give them a try and report back!
Thanks again.
