Alternator Heat Sheild for a Pinto
Discussion
Ok, any suggestions as to where I can find a alternator heat sheild for a Pinto.
My Westfield had started to make a nasty rattling sound, and this has been tracked down to a cracked heat sheild. Looked on the web, but did not find any, so thought I would throw this one open to the panel.
(BTW, don't start talking about the fricking rain... I am soaked through, and had the scariest drive home tonight :( )

The car is going well, apart from last nights soaking. Now have nearly 2 months commuting, 35 miles a day, and having a great time. Had a couple of "exciting" exits from roundabouts, and learn that being little some people like to look down on me. (Thanks to the driver of the 4x5 that decided to try and over take me having followed me on my tail through the village... the sight of your headlights in the distance still makes me smile).
I did have problems with the "mondeo magnet" that caused every tin top saloon to stick to me like s**t to a blanket every time I was in a 30 or 40 limit, but once I found that the magnet faded once the NSL signs appeared that made things easier.
Had to invest in a skid lid, esp now the cooler mornings are starting, but mostly having a blast, and it is amazing how many waves I get from Elises, classics cars, TVRs and even motor bikes. Not regretting anything, well mostly not, the only thing is I wish I had made it myself!

dont think there is a heatsheild for a pintos alternator - if your talking about the exhaist manifold starting to get hot on the back of it that is a common fault being so close together.. you an get hold of some ally sheet or steel and some snips - fashion a plate drill a hole and find a suitable spot to fasten it to.. try the mounting bracket or the manifold bolt to hold it on...
PS - brave guy to use throughout the year - ps keep an eye on rear wishbones for corrosion with the salt - they are out of sight and easy to corrode - i know what you mean with the visibility thing - i drive everywhere day or night with lights on - being small lights make you bigger...
