I recently bought a second-hand 22 A110. I was wondering if there is something wrong with the brakes or if this is normal? The brake pedal is very hard and I can only push it down a little bit. As a result, braking is very aggressive with the slightest touch of the pedal. It was like this when I bought the car.

I have experienced an issue that affected brake feel and performance. This is where the pistons and get pads get a bit sticky in the calipers, they then don’t slide properly. The result seems to be rusty inner faces of the discs and degraded braking and brake feel.
It’s been mentioned on other threads here which is what made me make the effort to check the inner faces. Might be worth a look.
It’s easy to fix provided the inner surface is not too far gone.
